Default cant get flywheel off with puller

2002 Warrior, So I bought a flywheel puller and the flywheel still doesnt budge using a impact gun.

I tightened it up and then gave the bell of the flywheel a few quick raps with a hammer hoping with the tension and impact it would loosen, no luck.

My main purpose was to replace the timing chain while doing a top end rebuild because the piston hit a stuck valve, figured it may have given the timing chain excess stress.

One thing I did note is that the end of the crankshaft is hollow and the puller doesnt sit well on the end of the shaft when tightening, but If I try and throw a spacer, washer, or bolt over the end, I cannot get the puller to screw onto the flywheel base as the puller isnt long enough.

Any suggestions? Sucks, have a flywheel puller that didnt work, and a new timing chain to install that I cant. Most likely am just going to reuse the old timing chain and move on.

Seems like Yamaha needs a one of a kind flywheel puller.
This is a 600 but its a similar flywheel to the 350.

I used a harmonic balancer puller had to buy 8 mm bolts to screw in to flywheel but it worked great on a bear tracker 250

Try pry bar underneath flywheel while you tap with hammer.

We used a slide hammer with a bolt puller when we removed the cover on our Grizzly 600. It made a huge difference. Wouldn't do it any other way.

It sounds like we went through the same process you're going through now. We wrote about the process and included photos on our website. I included the link below.

Bad Timing (Chain)
