Raptor suspension help
#11
Hey joeyd,
I'm close to your weight, at 250 lbs. My new Raptor should be in in a couple of weeks. All of this talk about suspension trouble has made me worried, as you could imagine. Just wondering what you think of the stock suspension. I do most of my riding in the woods, take some jumps, but dont really do any big air. I think the highest I got was about 5 feet on a 300ex. Thanks.

I find the stock suspension to be pretty good actually..don't sweat it for the woods.I ride on a MX track and get some big air..I am changing the fronts though. The rear is fine. I know you hear alot of stuff in here, To tell you the truth i have had no problems (knock wood) with my bike. It is an awesome ride. One thing i learned is you HAVE to let it warm up for a good 10 minutes. Also don't leave you r gas in the tank too long .otherwise it will go bad. Someone in here said they ripped their shocks from the mounts..hmmmmmm
i dunno but i have been hitting things pretty hard and i am very agressive...get the warranty..i did
Peace

I weigh about 210 in my tightie-whiteys and have taken several (like less than a dozen) hard, flat, and nose-first landings on my raptor from about 5 feet. No problems since October. If I stay below 5 feet, I hardly ever bottom. I lightened my compression damping 2 clicks, increased rebound damping 2 clicks, and increased front preload 1 notch. I need to up the rear preload to keep the thing level as described earlier. This seems to be much easier to ride in the whoops/jumps. Upping the compression damping just made my kidneys hurt. I intend to go with works steelers up front as soon as I get a little free money (and a PW50 for my son).
