If their in the same condition and price I would get the Wolverine.
The Wolverine was a more expensive ATV then the 300 Fourtrax ,it is taller, has no drum brakes and has more power. 1999 Yamaha Wolverine ATVs
The 350 Wolverine was even considered better in shootouts vs the 300's replacement ATV ,the 350 Rancher. http://www.atvreviewnetwork.com/enth...le2=1539&go=Go The wolverine was more expensive then the 350 Rancher let alone the 300.

It all depends what you want and are going to do. I have had both and rode both seriously. The wolverine is fast for what it is (i have beat several 450 4x4s) but it is geared a lot higher than the 300 fourtrax esp 1st gear, and you can run in to problems being as big as you are, if you get that wolverine in a bind, in deep mud, or start upsizing the tires it will definatly bog down and im talking not move. The honda on the other hand is defiantly more reliable, they are just bullet proof, and they are gear low low. Like TLC posted, the yamaha is worth more and is taller. Up to you my friend.

I never owned the Wolverine but I know the 348cc motor is reliable, its been around for 20 years or more and used in the Yamaha XT motor bikes,350 Big Bears , Bruins, Grizzly, Warriors and Raptor.
I just sold a 1989 350 Big Bear to a friend that I must of put a few thousand miles on it and I was the 3rd owner.
Its Motor was the reason I just bought a used 350 Grizzly.
But I,m sure the same can be said for the TRX300 as well.

As bad a you think the Wolverines suspension is, it sure a leap ahead of the 300TRX in the travel department. 7.1" vs 5.1". http://www.atvreviewnetwork.com/enth...cle2=170&go=Go
Both are full time 3wd.
