Gotta change the fluids in my new-to-me 1992 Timberwolf 250 4x2. I have 10w40 semi-synth for the engine and 80w90 for the final drive (trying to use what I have sitting around the shop). Lots of hard miles on this old guy, he'll have a pretty easy life from here out, hauling small trailers and going for light-duty woods cruises. Warm Pittsburgh summers and chilly fall weekends. Should those weights work well with high miles and moderate temps? Thanks in advance!

 

That's good as long as your Synthetic motor oil is motorcycle grade and states its for "wet clutches".

 

Hmm... good to know. I'm sure it's not specifically for motorcycles or wet clutches, it's just plain old Castrol motor oil. I've heard mixed reviews about Yamalube, any recommendations for a reasonably priced oil?

 

I use Amsoil and its for wet clutches. Automotive synthetic oil may have friction additives that your clutch plates will not care for.

 

Cool, makes perfect sense - wasn't thinking about the wet clutch when I posted this question initially. You learn something new every day!. I've heard good things about the Amsoil, might try that in my next change. In the time being, my local Wally World had Valvoline 10w40 ATV oil for under 4 bucks a quart, gonna try a couple of those this weekend. Thanks for your advice, TLC!
