RAPTOR CARBS (NEED INFO)
#12
YAMAHA HAS THE BOOTS ON BACK ORDER...SO IN THE MEAN TIME I TOOK THE SPACERS OUT OF THE CLAMPS AND PUSHED THE CLAMPS AS FAR AS I COULD TOWARD THE CARBS SO THE CLAMPS ARE DIRECTLY OVER THE BOOT LIP / ORING THAT LINES UP WITH THE GROOVE ON THE CARB DISCHARGE. I ONLY TIGHTENED THE CLAMPS A LITTLE FARTHER THAN THE SPACES (THAT I REMOVED) WOULD LET ME...I HAVE RIDEN FOUR TIMES SINCE I READJUSTED THE CLAMPS AND I HAVE NOT HAD THE CARBS BLOW OFF YET....THO I WILL LET YAMAHA REPLACE THE BOOTS WHICH ARE ON BACK ORDER..I WILL KEEP YA POSTED IF MY SOLUTION WORKS OR DOESNT WORK...GOT A BIG RIDE THIS WEEKEND WITH 10 FRIENDS...SO IT SHOULD BE A GREAT TEST TO SEE IF MY SOLUTION IS BULLIT PROOF.....LATER...HERBDON OUT..

I think that the thoory of the carbs being too lean is a good one. I jetted my Raptor 2 days after I got it with 165,170 and 27.5 pilots, and it has never blown the boots off, and I ride it almost every other day. I have a friend who changed his main jets but didnt change the pilots and his blew off until he installed 27.5 pilots, he has had not problems since then. We have both owned our raptors since late Sept and have had none of the textbook problems, 2nd gear blowing out, clutch fade, ect.May want to check those pilots.
