Default Spark Plug - Tightening

After my recent top end rebuild I tried to screw in my spark plug and noticed the threads were screwed up. I could only hand tighten it about four revolutions before I had to use a wrench. I am going to order a Helicoil thread repair kit but in the mean time was curious how far I should screw in the spark plug? I have attached a picture of where it is now. Is there a way to know by sight? I'm not sure if it is in far enough? I appreciate any guidance...

Maybe pull on the pull cord a little easy and at the same time see if oil comes out where you think it might not be connecting

Before you go to a helicoil or time sert you might want to use a thread chaser with a little grease on it to see if you can clean up the threads. You can get these at most auto stores.

Thanks OPT. I will definitely try both. When I inspected the threads they looked fine so hopefully I can forego the Helicoil.

Yes those do work, over the years I have saved many threaded holes in heads from serious thread damage with a chasing tool. If the threads look decent then you will probably be good, the heli-coil should be a last resort.
