Default Is this a loose timing chain?

Hi all, first post... I've been lurking a while, and was hoping for a pro to listen to my motor and give me their thoughts...

I got the atv with a spare motor, the spare motors chain is tights as a drum, the atvs chain is much looser...

File upload is limited to 5 mg, so I've attached a link to the video in my google photos...

Thanks, its 1990 350 warrior, I just got it, cleaned out the carbsm adjusted the valves, and I'm afraid to run it with this noise...

If you take off the cam cover and you can feel play in the timing chain it needs to be replaced. You shouldn`t have any slack in it at all.

OK, thanks, it definitely has slack and the adjuster seems to be extended all the way out. I'll replace it.

Take off the timing chain tensioner and see if it is all the way out. It's hard to diagnose problems via video but my z400 was making a similar noise so I bought a manual adjuster off ebay so I could ride it before the season ended and it worked great. I promptly changed the chain over the winter though. I only recommend the manual tensioner as a band-aid not as a fix....if the chain is stretched then it needs changing.
