Default Can I hotwire this

Lost my key for my 2001 bear tracker after re arranging the house, just got done putting a new bottom end on it to find out I can't start it.

Can I just unplug the ignition key switch to pull start it?

Any help would be great I need to figure this out before tomorrow morning when I head back out to my buddy garage where it is, he has a few toggle switches, could I just splice it to that?

Use your vin number and go to your local dealer and they should be able to make a key for you. Worst case is you have to buy another ignition switch and keys. You don't want to cobble it unless you don't care about resale value.

Resale isnt really important to me, I bought it for a beater to let my new kodiak save a few beatings and for friends to ride.

Some ignitions like Polaris have the connector you can unplug from the ignition switch and you can jump the contacts to crank it.Then when you have time get a key made or just spring for a new ignition switch.

Like take a plain wire and connect it to the adapter then loop the other end right into the same adapter(but touching other wire in adapter)?

Don't know your wire colors but usually one hot wire in on one pin, jump it to the pin that powers the dash, light, etc and usually the starter button will work. That is if you have just a two way switch and starter button on the left control switch.

Not quite sure what you mean, have never really messed with electrics, could you elaborate?

If you just have two wires to the switch, then yes you can connect them together, but most have more, and unless you know which wires go to what, don't, as wiring the live battery feed to the kill wire from the CDI will fry your CDI.
