Default 4x4 button on a 02 big bear 400

hey new to this, I have a 02 big bear 400 4x4 and missing the 4x4 oncommand button. been looking online and they are not cheap, so is there a way to just hook it up to a toggle switch even though it has 5 or 6 wires coming from the plug? it's just one button and that it. if so can yall send me something for me to do it my self, would like to k now before I go out and buy stuff to do it and I will end up having to buy the switch for it. thanks

I suspect it will be quite a complex switch, as I think it will feed pos and neg to the motor in one position and reversed polarity on both pos and neg in the other position. A double contact two way switch may do the trick, but it isn't just a normal on/off set up. I would go for a used switch if you can't afford new. Products ? 501 Parts.com Yamaha 4wd System Parts and Repair is worth a look as he does nothing else but Yam 4WD stuff, but his switches are $80 for the 400 Big Bear.

thanks I knew it wouldn't be simple to do. This big bear was actually given to me for free with a little bit of issues with it so I really did not want to put a whole lot of money into it just yet, just in case something major happens to it. I seen a thread on one of these forms and someone was asking about putting a switch for the 4x4, and thought maybe that would work lol
