02 Grizzly 660 common problems
#1
I am going to go look at a Yamaha Grizzly 660 tomorrow and I just wanted some common points to check out on it. Its at a dealer and I am looking to trade in my 1999 Suzuki bandit 1200 on it and see where that gets me. They are asking 3500 for it with a winch and plow.
Anyways been reading stuff about it not coming out of 4 wheel drive or the diff not locking up how it should or it locks up and makes noise. Also the brakes may make noise but from what I read it appears the brake is on the drive shaft so that could be normal?
How is the gearing on this? I mean I know its shaft driven so it cant be changed but is it low enough that it would it take a 2" lift and 28" tires well with a 230lb rider?
I am just looking for an entry level 4x4 off road machine. Get me into hard to reach or tight hunting and shooting spots. Never had a machine before so I dont know if I will love it or hate it but its just a beginner machine. Buddy bought a new 18 Polaris Ranger and another has an 06 Polaris quad so I want to have a machine good enough to hang with them. Not to keep up with the joneses. But enough power, modern enough suspension etc. I have been looking at older 90s quads like Magnums and king quads but I think I would prefer something newer.
Anyways if anyone could let me know a little about these, common problems and what needs attention before buying one that would be great. Thanks
