Someone told me that white plastic tends to turn yellow. Is this true, and why. What can be done to prevent it from happenning. This is 1st quad with white plastic. Thanks for the help.

 

Wow!!!! 43 views and not a single reply. Either no ones heard of this problem, or there is no cure for it. Somebody must know something.

 

I wouldnt be worried about it, I think the yellow is from wiping the mud off the fenders after a long time and it gets worn into the plastic, if you rinse it down with a hose before going to it with the towel it should be all set.. White plastic is great, no stress marks, dosent show scratches, and when it gets bad you can sand it down an shine it back up like new. Also armorall or that 2001 stuff works good, whichever has the UV-block in it..

 

I thought the only time when white plastic turns yellow is when the plastic is located near the gas tank. Which happens obviously because of the gas.

 

gas and oil along with the sun will turn the plastic yellow.. if your quad needs a bath give it one and if it shows yellow.. soft scrub should do the job of turning it white again.. good luck
