We can't do state legal here in Ohio (
We can get an off road state sticker to ride in federal parks, which also gives you the right to use "secondary streets" to access trails within 1 mile or something, but thats it.
The only way to make it 100% street legal is to turn the quad into a reverse 3 wheeler (2 tires up front one rear) and put lights, horn etc on it.

Roost, I know we've been down this road before [figuratively speaking] but I have never been able to figure out exactly what needs to be done to get it registered there. I also understand that N Dakota allows 'em too but the details as to how are always a little sketchy. I would almost be willing to buy some property in one of these states so I could legally register it and then bring it back to Chi town and go for a ride. I'm dying to drive down Lake Shore Drive with my Banshee. If nothing else it would be cool to pick up a gallon of milk or a dozen eggs

Holyman,
Here in Wyoming you need a headlight, taillight, brakelight, horn and mirror to be street legal. You must register it and have liability insurance as well. You must have a motorcycle endorsement on your drivers license or (in WY) a "recreational MC" endorsement which is a written test only that will allow you to ride an ATV on the street. Of course Wyoming is a LOT different from other states in this regard.

Wyo...is your state one of the ones that is letting legal aliens get a license? I heard one of the northern states was having such a hard time with getting people to go there and work plus they were having a problem with the aliens driving without insurance that they are going to issue them a license of some sort so they can get insurance. this might be some sort of a loophole for registration to your state from out of state? what sort of registration do you have to have? does it have to be from your state? i would think so but you never know.
