I guess my post was kind of confusing, on a SHORT drag I think the blaster would do good, you can only accelerate SOOO fast, of corse on a long drag the blaster tops out and then gets smoked big time, but on a short drag its possible. The blasters dont go that fast but they get to top speed VERY quick, usually 50' or so down the road and Im in 6th WOT..

I have seen a blaster that was surprisingly quick. I saw it at the Big River Sand Drags (100 yds), Bonne Terre MO. I don't know what he had in the motor, but it had a drag pipe, extended swingarm, and paddles. My banshee had Paul Turner hi-rev pipes and stock tires. Our times were almost identical. I was running in the 5.8 second range at 55 mph. As a comparison, my future brother-in-law's 400ex, Noleen pipe, and rejetted has run a best time of 6.27 seconds.

This blaster also had a nitrous system mounted on it, but at the time they said it was not being used.

I just recently beat 400ex's on the holeshot on a track with my blaster. IT is highly modded too with hetrick porting and too many others too list. But we were running even coming around a corner and then we tried to race to the corner, we both gunned it and I beat him. Most people underestimate blasters for what they can do.

I'll second that! The Blaster is designed to be a economical solution to sport ATVs. You get what you pay for. BUT....If you get rid of the cheap stuff and upgrade to some quality aftermarket parts, basically takeover where Yamaha left-off (to keep it affordable)and finish them the right way, the Blaster can really become a hand-full.

I think the Blaster (not positive) is dyno'd at 10-12 horse stock in a 300lb. chassis. The highest I have seen this go personaly is on two of my friends Blasters that they race, one is at 43hp and the other at 48hp. They will eat any stock machine produced, and even both of the 250rs that they have also. But with this comes a rebuild every third race, not to mention very scary controlability!!

Over all I agree, Blasters are little unpredictable B**tards, that when modded can suprise even the big boys! Just my $.02.
