I just talked to the Service manager at the dealer and he said bring it in right away and they will pull it apart and see if there is any damage.

By looking at the pic, there is no support for the filter. Is the filter housing that the filter siides over broke on the top or have you removed it?

 

What I think happened was the bike Back Fired and the Wire mesh thats Epoxied to the Plastic mount let go. This let a 1 inch by 5 inch gap of unfiltered air. The Dealer is getting me a Pro-Design Setup, Completely checking the bike for damage, and getting me the extended warranty on the motor.

Heres a good one for you guys. After being horrified by that picture of a a broken air filter, i went out and checked mine, I've ridden for two "real" rides about 6-7 hours on it. To my astonishment and ANGER mine was not even on. It was not broken but it was not on right. When i took it out, I found out it was upside down. The a**hole at the factory couldn't even put it in right. Probably explains why my bike was bogging at high RPM. Well I know I'll be buying the extended warranty. Would it be best to change the oil now???

 

i agree the airbox and filter are crap i'm a bit of a metal fabricator has anyone thought of useing a corvettes K&N air cleaner.
