My bottom end went on my 2001 kodiak 4x4 and am looking for a replacement engine. Will any 2000-2004 4x4 fit ? Any older or newer models that fit without any mods ?

I wouldn't be too surprised if a 350-450 engine from even a 2021 could be made to work, but the devil is in the details.

 

At a guess any of the belt drive water cooled 400 to 450 engines is going to be the nearest. However don't underestimate the perversity of makers. Bruin and Kodiak look to have the same plastics, also look to have the same seat. We had a scrap Bruin in the yard and needed a seat for a Kodiak, so tried it, everything identical except the plastic pegs that locate it were a different width apart, so it wouldn't fit.
