Yamaha Warrior stopped running while riding
#1
One day when I went to a higher gear, I could hear a loud rattling sound. Since then the sound has been there. I took it out for a ride one day. Went to second gear, then the quad shut down. Would not start, had to pull it home. It has not been able to start since. Not sure what the problem here is. Please let me know if you have any info!

Check for a spark at the plug. Do a compression test, should be over 90psi. If it is, fit a new plug and try to start it. If that doesn't work, clean the carb out and try to get it going again. Rattle may, or may not, be anything to do with it stopping. If compression is low, check valve clearances and re-test compression after they have been set.

As I wrote check valve clearances, but if it isn't just them closed up, the head is going to have to come off, so you will find the fault once you do that. Even if it is a valve problem, take cylinder off too, and check for bore scoring and wear, and piston ring wear.

Hey, I took of the head and I found something interesting. The pin on the camshaft got sheared off. I took a look at the valves. Exhaust valve is bent super bad. Valve took a hit with the piston. Maybe the timing got messed up due to the camshaft pin. Not sure. I also found a crack in the head case.

I’m in a similar boat with mine. My exhaust value snapped and destroyed my pistol and jug. I wound up ordering everything from eBay of all places. Set me back around 375 after everything was said and done. Right now I’m just waiting on all the parts to get here so I can put the motor back together.
