2006 Blaster wont start
#1
Hi all, I'm at a dead end trying to get our blaster back running, hopefully someone here can point me in a good direction. We have had our Blaster since it was new and it has always ran great and we have never had a problem with it starting. We took it to the trails a couple weeks ago and it ran fine, we came home cleaned it up and put it in the shed. Took it out today for the kids to ride a little and it doesn't even try to run when kicked, I tried bump starting it by rolling down a hill on our property and it spit and sputtered and tried to start and the front light comes on but wouldn't start. I pulled the bowl on the carb and it was clean so I decided to check spark and I couldn't see any. I checked for voltage going into the coil and there is nothing, put a spare CDI box in and that didn't change anything so I decided to check the stator. The fly wheel has some corrosion on the magnets and the windings on the stator have some areas the look burnt. I'm leaning towards the stator being bad but I'm perplexed by the fact that it tried to run when bump starting it, if the stator was bad it shouldn't work at all right?
Thanks in advance!

Worth getting a workshop manual. You can often find them free on-line. This will have resistance tests for the power coil and trigger coil. Not an exact science, but should give you an idea if a coil has burnt out. Even when shorted out, they can produce some voltage, particularly when spun fast, so may give enough power for a sputter.
