Default Yamaha blaster jetting issue

Hello I have a 2001 Yamaha blaster the only mods I’ve done to it are a tors delete, fmf fatty pipe and turbine core 2, my elevation is 830ft after a riding trip with a Chinese carb the bike didn’t want to idle so I rebuilt the oem one and it wouldn’t run the same so I bought Jets and went down from 290 and the only jet that felt as good as before was a 220 jet but everyone said for a similar setup I have it should be around 280 so am I doing something wrong? The spark looks good and I’m not really sure what else it could be thanks!

In a perfect world, sure you could be using the same Jet as someone else with similar setup. But there are so many factors to determine proper jetting and at that end of the day it is what your machine likes, not what everyone else is running.

Fuel quality could affect it. Valve adjustment, worn piston and rings. Head gasket leaks. So many things can affect it. If your bike likes the 220, leave it. Nothing wrong with wanting more power but your machine just doesn't like that much more fuel, forget it, ride and enjoy.
