Kodiak Vibration? Please advise.
#1
My wife's 2001 Kodiak 4wd has a vibration when accelerating. It almost feels like something is out of balance. Is this just "nature of the beast"? Has anyone else noticed this? It's ready for the 100 mile service and I plan to do it myself.
BTW, It's a top notch ATV in every other respect.

MontanaMan, we're happy with both ATVs. The Rubicon's tranny is so smooth, responsive and has great engine braking. It also corners very well with a low center of gravity. The Kodiak is more nimble and is better suited for tight cornering in the woods. I rode it yesterday in a fresh cut hay field and was able to slide around in 2WD and that's hard to do on the Ruby. Both were chosen ATV of the year and I think they deserved it.

My 2000 Kodiak has a vibration like you describe. I especially feel it through the floorboards/pegs. The handlebars are not so bad. I am soon going to take it in to the dealer for a check-up.
I love the Kodiak's handling and light nimble feel. My only complaint is that I find the acceleration to be a bit lackluster. I know that an auto will never have the hit of a manual trans but... I did put a Supertrapp IDS2 pipe on my Kodiak and have been fiddling with the jetting which seemed to give the Kodiak more grunt, but it is more sluggish than I would like. Anybody know of anyone making transmission parts (ie weights, springs, etc) for the Kodiak?

I took the Kodiak by the dealer today and we test drove it, then drove a new one. Guess what, they both had the same vibration. This is my wife's ride and she had complained but there's not a problem. I've heard around that Kodiaks tend to smooth out after a few miles. We only have 100 miles on it and I'm gonna do the service and forget about it.
BTW, this is the only glitch we've had and I'd buy the Kodiak again in a heartbeat. Great bike!
