2001 Kodiak 4X4

When I put the machine in reverse I lose a bit of power. I am afraid that when I put bigger tires on it that I won't be able to back up with enough power. Any ideas. Also my front ends seems a little loose, how do I adjust it? Thanks for your help.
Update: Stearng is still loose, reverse sounds like it is starving for gas. I also seem too think the waterpump went bad. Anyone know where the waterpump is located. If is just under and to the right of the pull start then that is where it is leaking. Going to the dealers soon. Calling tomorrow. I will let you know what is up.

I got my Kodiak back today from the dealer. He replaced my water pump. It is located where you are looking and you should get it fixed asap. I believe my new pump is different than the old one. This new one has a 7 to 8" clear plastic breather tube hanging down from the bottom. I dont remember that being on the old one. Check yours and let me know what you see. Hopefully Yamaha has finally updated the water pump.
