Dealer #1. Set the idle speed up but it may still backfire and blow them off again.

Dealer #2. Boots are too tight.

Dealer #3. Put on automotive type clamps.

Dealer #4. Yamaha will replace the boots, even if it is out of warranty, but it will take at least 3 weeks, so see if you can find another dealer that can do it.

At least your dealers are helping you. Two of my friends own 2000 raptors and they are both blowing the right carb off and their dealers claim yamaha hasn't heard of any other instances.

There are screws on the bottom of the carbs, crank em out a turn or so. Turn the idle up a bit, and the problem is gone. I blew mine off one time, called the service dept and this is the info I pryed out of him. good luck

Supposedly 27.5 pilots cure the problem... I have some, just no time to rip my quad apart and put them in..

I think I'm also going to put some better clamps on...

I'm more worried about second gear than I am the carbs..

Tell me about ,
I argued with a fellow rider, fellow Honda rider for that case, that raptor were only made as 2001. He thinks that there are year 2000 and 2001 Raptors.

A friend of mine is a tech at a yamaha dealer and he has found one thing for sure that causes the carbs to blow off. When you put the seat on the bike you have to make sure that the plastic guide on the bottom of the seat does not pinch the rubber breather hose that attaches to both carbs then "horseshoes" up right below the tank mount.
He has seen at least two bikes that this was the cause so far.
mine has not done it since the addition of a full pipe, jetting and bumping up the idle a bit.
