Boreing Vs. Milling
#1
Hey everyone, I was talking to a guy at the local track, and he said he got his Banshee milled. I asked him what exactly it meant, and he said instead of being bored, he got it milled. My impression of a mill job was shortening the stroke.. am I wrong?? Also, where is a good place to get an engine rebult? My Banshee is .20 over, and it needs going over again. I'd really like to bump it up to 370, but like Zorro said, it can get expensive. I will be getting some DMC's or, maybe Bill's Platinum. Thanks in advance,

Did he have it done to the head or the cylinder, if it was to the head he probably had it shaved. If it was the cylinder it would shorten the stroke. Unless it was done on a CNC mill then it could be set up to be bored.

You can only Bore a cyclinder which increases displacement or you can mill(shave)your head which increases compression. Or you can bore you cyclinder and shave you head that way you have a few more CC's and more compression!

you can bore a cylinder on a lathe or a milling machine. If you do it on a lathe you turn the cylinder around and the tool stays still. if you set it up on a mill with the right fixture you jut bore it out like drilling. Either way it increases the bore diameter.
