2000 GRIZZ
#1
I have the oppurtunity to buy a 2000 4x4 grizz for 4800.00 it has 500 miles on it. It comes with a winch, aplow and a back seat box. do you think this is a good deal? I haven't seen the bike yet but it sounds like a good deal and I plan on checking it out on Sunday.
What should I look for when buying? What are some sure signs of abuse?
I know on a snowmobile it is very easy to unhook the speedometer is it equally as easy to do the same on a wheeler?

It is very easy to unhook the speedometer on the griz. Even when I got mine new, the speedometer was already off. I had to hook it up myself. Also, that is a pretty good deal so I would take advantage of it. Look at the front bumper because it bends really easy, so you will know if he is trashing it. Also what the quadfather said.

CAN I VISUALLY SEE THE NUT THAT SCREWS THE SPEEDOMETER IN? THAT'S USUALLY A GOOD WAY TO JUSTIFY WHETHER IT HAS BEEN UNHOOKED OR NOT SINCE IT WILL HAVE WRENCH MARKS ON THE NUT IF IT HAS BEEN TAMPERED WITH.

It certainly doesn't sound like a bad deal. I have a 99 Grizzly and love it.
Like Quafather said, look for the obvious. The age of the person will tell you how the machine was ridden. If it is an older guy,I bet he bought the machine thinking he would plow the drive way with it and then this past winter dicouraged him. We had a lot of heavy, wet snow and the little plow had problems holding up. Young kids tend to stay away from 4x4 quads for 2 reasons.
#1) Speed- certainly are not as quick as a racer.0000
#2) Price- 4x4's are about double the price of a racer.
500 miles in one season (in NH) is about the average.
I don't know too many people who would diconnect their speedo.
If you decide not to buy it - Let me know. My buddy is shopping for one.
I live in Litchfield,NH. If you ride around this area - give me a blast and we'll hookup. Always looking ride with new people.
Chech out my webpage. I have some ATV pics on there.
