sick of 400ex

You really should get one and ride it until you get the feel of it and you will see why there are so many. I love mine and wouldn't trade it for anything. You make your machine unique by getting out and being unique in your riding abilities, where you ride and the friends you make. And then there are always the endless mods. Have you had the chance to ride any of the 400s? I didn't buy mine because everyone else had one but because I rode them and realized it was the quad for me. If the 400EX isn't for you I hope you find just the right machine because they are all as fun as you make them!!!!

I have to agree with the previous post - there is a really good reason why the 400ex is so popular. Buy some purple plastic, get a graphics kit and seat cover, and powdercoat the frame if you need a unique look.
We have a Raptor and two 400exs. If I could somehow put the Raptor engine into the 400ex and keep the feel of the 400ex except for the added power, life would be grand. I never knock what is one of the best quads ever made. I could have purchased three Raptors but I definitely think the handling and power characteristics of the 400ex are perfect for most riders. The 400ex is awesome for casual riding as well as hitting the MX track. The Raptor is almost like a 2 stroke in that it truly needs to be ridden hard - that is why so many complain about the gap between 1st and 2nd on the trails. The trails they are riding are too tight to go full speed in 2nd gear so they are constantly playing between 1st and 2nd. The engine can certainly handle 2nd gear if it is in the powerband. The Raptor is really for experienced riders who plan to ride like they stole it. I don't have a single friend who has ridden both the 400ex and the Raptor think that the Raptor is easier or more fun to ride. They all want to ride the 400ex which is fine by me. I tend to think the 400ex is a bit mellow for my taste and riding style.
Another consideration when deciding between the two is your weight. I bought the Raptor since I was 205lbs at the time of purchase. I didn't want to start building up the 400ex engine since this is the type of work I would have to pay someone to do. I can fix the handling characteristics of the Raptor on my own by doing research on this forum, buying the parts, and installing them. The bottom line is that even a diehard Raptor lover knows that the 400ex is a great machine and can be the better choice for many. The Raptor is not for everyone but it is definitely for some.
