dseater,
I think I've asked this before, but don't know if I ever got an answer.
How does your big bore compare to other quads in power and drag? Have you had a chance to race any hot banshees, a ds650 or any 440exs?
Thanks!

cspyy, you should check with FST (four stroke technologies). or maybe racer's edge. they both make hi-comp pistons. i just am not sure if they make them oversized. i called wiseco and the guy told me that it would be next summer before they make one for the raptor. teamracersedge.com. i don't know about fst. fst would probably be my choice. while you're at it get a cam just to make it a little more interesting. both will definitly be my next move. i'm not going to bore though....hopefully.

richie, i think me and u have been thinkin exactly alike.
FST was the FIRST place i called because i have good experiences with them, but they are out until mid july. i called teamraceredge also, i even spoke with wiseco also, which they have one listed in they're catalog but they are not even availible (weird.)
AND i was planning on getting a cam from FST, like u r saying, but the cam is $220 and u gotta have stiffer valve springs to compensate for the different lift and duration, and they are $185, and then i always like to do things right so new rocker arms would be better than worn rocker arms on a new cam, and there's no telling how much those are.....sooo...i think im gonna wait and then go all out with it after i get my suspension done.

cspyy, in the february 01' issue of 4-wheel atv action mag they build a fst raptor. maybe you have it but incase you didn't get it i'll quote it. "The remarkable thing is how little was done to the engine: a pipe, some rejetting, a bit of airbox modification, some head porting and a high compression piston. that's it. the compression increase doesn't even require race gas." well, when i called them the guy told me they had raised the ratio to 11:1. he still said race gas wasn't needed. anyway the article said nothing about springs. so i'm glad you brought that to my attention. this could get expensive. but possibly worth it. what do you have in mind for shocks. they used works in that article. front and rear was around $1000. axis is the most expensive i've seen so far but they are made out of much tougher stuff. the web sight i was at said they most likely wouldn't need rebuilding unless you raced alot. most every article i've read where they changed raptor suspension all bragged on how good the rear shock was. (it's rebuildable the front aren't) i wanted to get all the power first then set my suspension accordingly. but from a financial point of veiw you might have the right idea.

These companies for sure have what your looking for, if your still interested!
Bikeworx call G a y l e n @ 9 7 8 8 9 7 0 0 4 4, they have extensive knowledge on the 660 motor and have what your looking for.
Trinity Racing call H a r r y @ 7 1 4 6 3 2 3 4 3 4, they too have what your looking for (this is who I ended up using for my motor mods which included a +2mm 11-1 JE piston).
Fst disappointed me for several reasons, he only takes calls 2 hours a day(difficult to speak with), wouldn't give me any cam specifications (as if he has a top secret cam grind) and turnaround time (I believe was 4 wks for piston, cam, port etc and I got it done in 2).
I would suggest you do as I have done and speak with as many builders as possible. Pick thier brains (so to say) and interview them. Ask them about all the specs for the parts your looking for and make your decision.
Good luck with your project!
