I have a friend that just bought a warrior a week or so ago so it only has about 4 hours on it. The proboblem is that when he has it running for a couple of hours then shuts it off when he restarts it it does not want to run (runs choppy and backfires real bad) it also gets a pretty loud tick saound. Is this normal or does it need to the shop.

After you run a new Warrior for about 1 hour you are supposed to adjust the valves. Did he do this? Sounds to me like he didn't.

yeah... i know valves can tick, especially when the motor is cold in the winter and oil hasnt reached the valves yet. i would also say to check the valves they need to be tightned i think.

When I bought my 2000 Warrior a year and a half ago, it starting doing the same thing after about 5 hours of riding time. It would run fine for a while and then just die (usually after jumping), and after re-starting would run like crap for a while--it would eventually clean itself up though. What I think was causing the problem, was some jelled fuel I found in the carb. If I was your friend I'd pull the carb and clean it out as best as possible. Pull all of the jets and shoot carb cleaner into all of the fuel circuits...and don't forget the float needle too. After I cleaned the carb I never had that problem again.

Thank you for the help I will make sure to tell him to set the valves and check the carb. Ill also tell him to read the owners manual because Im sure the break in is covered in there.

Thanks again
