My Banshee is the common close to stock piped banshee. T5s, Wiseco Pro-Lites, and I am gettin the head milled and a timing advance plate.

Can I beneficially run alcohol to get more out of it? I have my cases split now and can get my crank welded to handle it.

I would need alcohol carbs right? what else is involved? Is this a reliable power source? How much is it to buy the alcohol and do you run it straight or mixed? Do you always have to mess with the jetting and check it? If this is going to be a big hassle then I don't think I want to get involved. How much power will this put out?

Do you think I should forget about running alcohol and get some other kind of motor work done?

thanks

just get a port job instead alky is great for drag racing but its not very trail friendly you will spend less getting a port job and will be alote happier and since the case is split get the case ported to it makes a diff it helps alote with the flow i have a highly modded shee and started once to go on alky but i do alote of trail ridding and it just wasnt the best thing for me. good luck!!

I'm sure that would be fine if you want to work on it about 10 times as much as you work on the common 2 stroke.

well my banshe is on alcohol, and have not a single problem or regret about it. u will goina tremendous power, but if ur not just all out drag racing, u prolly doin want it, since it burns 2 to 3 times more than gas.
u can get ur carbs converted to alky, i use klotz benoil mixed 32:1
but u do have to run gas through it before it sets up after ur finished riding to keep ur crank and all from rusting,

how much is it to get the carbs converted? and if you get the carbs converted can you run regular gas through them when you dont want to run the alcohol?

how much am i looking at to get it all set-up and how much is the alcohol, and do you run it 100% or diluted with regular gasoline?

do you have to mess with the jetting a lot? does the jetting change at all when running gasoline or alcohol?

what is the power like? what will it do compared to the piped banshee's running gasoline? will i really pull away from them? the same power spread except like a bunch more times as strong? or does it change everything and make it have more power all around and take away the well known hit when the engines power comes on? do you get increased cylinder wear? any over heating problems? what do you have to do to the engine internally to keep it from blowing apart, weld the crank together, forged pistons, anything else? do you want a high compression, say around 160 per cylinder or do you want to keep it lower around stock 110 120/cyl.? do you want to retard or advance the timing?

is it a big hassel and pain in the *** at times? is it unreliable?

i would just like to get some truthful facts about running alcohol or "alky"...

thanks!

alright, slow down, i will try to answer all ur questions.
i dont know exactly how much it is to get the carbs converted, i bought whole new carbs (35mm)--no u cant run regular gas through them because ur jetting has to be SOO big for alcohol, that u would have to change jetting for gas--alcohol is from $2.00-$2.50 where i live--u run it 100%alky, with mixed oil (make sure it is an oil that will work in alky)--get ur jetting right and leave it--yup--power is great--if u got all ur stuff in order it will give u about 10 more hp's--power hits harder in the powerband and everywhere i think--not really ne more cylinder wear cause ur still rinning premix--u dont have to weld the crank if ur not running too much compression, i have 19cc domes and it does fine but i will get 17's later and will have to weld my crank--no overheating at all, actually it will run a lot cooler--u must advance ur timing, about 8 degrees--its not a pain in the *** to me or a hassel, i just love it and get used to it--i think mine is running about 90-95 hp's--u dont really have to have ne gauges, although it always helps to know what ur engine is doing--dont know about running for an hour straight, depends on how u ride it, but remember it does burn twice or three times as much as gas.--and another thing, make sure u get it good and warmed up before blasting off
