Synthetic or Castor?
#1
I have a 2001 Banshee and I am confused between the differences of synthetic and castor oil for my engine. Which type of oil would be best for me to mix in my gas? Which type burn cleaner, and makes the engine last longer, and is healthier for the engine? What kind of oil does everyone reccomend I run in my Shee and at what ratio?
Thanks

From what I've heard, castor oil burns much cleaner but will require you to rebuild the top end more often because it burns so clean it can't provide proper lubrication. Synthetic oil is what I run in my blaster. I use maxima super m at 32:1. It burns fairly clean and I have never had a problem with the top end.
If I've missed something or said something incorrect, someone please clear it up. I'm not an expert at this.

Actually it's the opposite. Castor oils are derived from the castor and rinicus bean. Thier film strength's are second to none, that's why they provide such good hi-rpm lubrication, but conversely deposits form quickly at lower RPM's. The formation of deposits, and "gumming"(hence de-gummed castor oils) of things like powervalves, is partially what lead to leaner oil ratios and synthetic oils.
Synthetic oil will burn cleaner and provide nearly the same film strength.
Select an 100% synthetic oil that is readily available, mix it at a consistent ratio, and you'll be fine.
For most Banshee's I would reccomend using a 32:1 to 40:1, but follow the oil manu's reccomendation on the bottle(if none use the above).
