I was going through a pretty deep mud hole on my 2001 Kodiak this week and I got myself stuck. I was able to get out in reverse but the machine sounds like it bogs down when you nail the gas in reverse. I called the dealer because I remembered reading in these forums about a reverse rev limiter. He confirmed that there is and that it can't be disabled. Does anyone know how to disable this and has anyone actually done it.

Thanks,
Al

There is a reverse rev limiter on the Kodiak for reverse. I don't know how to disable it nor have I come across anyone that has been able to disable it.

When using my Kodiak to move my boat and trailer around the yard, I've noticed it does fine in forward low range, but doesn't have much gumption in reverse. You really have to get on the throttle to get it to move, and this can't be good for the old belt. I attribute this to reverse having a high gear ratio that does not provide enough mechanical advantage. I had a similar issue with my Honda 300 Fourtrax . I'd be happier with a lower reverse gear. I don't need wheel speed, I just need to be able to get them turning.
