Just make sure there's a lot of slack in the cable and then push on it cable so it slides though the slot in the lever. It's not too complicated if ya ask me.

One good thing to do is to unbolt the lever...then it will be trivial to take the cable off...that's usually how I did...and once it's all apart...grease everywhere!!

You probably already did it.. But, take the whole assembly off, unscrew the fastner "thingy-ma-jigger", take the CABLE out of the assembly, turn it bout 90 degrees, where there's nothing holding it back.. and the end should slip right out. If you're going to replace the lever, get the cable too!! Mine broke the other day.. Right in the middle of the track! It sucked.. One other thing, I had to take my right carb off to get back to the clip or whatever it is.. and the air equalizer tube came off, and I didn't know it.. It ran like crap.. if you do replace it all, make sure that tube's back in place!

I thought this sounded like a stupid question and after talking to some locals, I knew it was a stupid question. I took a look at my cable again and figured out why it would not just go the 90 degree route and slip out, it was kinda crimped and the piece of metal that surrounds the lead portion would not turn all the way. It took some work, but I finaly got it to come out, but jacked up my cable in the process, which is ok I suppose since i was pretty stiff at any rate.

Thanks guys and gals,

RoostKing...
