Has anyone heard of any aftermarket oil filters for the Raptor. I'm going to the bike shop Sat. morning to get a new helmet for riding the Gold Wing and I thought I'd pick up an oil filter for the Raptor while I was there. Then I remembered how expensive it was the last time so I was wondering if there was a less expensive alternative.

Thanks

I use ACDelco, PF2057 on my raptor. It is alittle longer than the Yamaha. It has the relief valve etc. I got this info from a friend i meet at the sand dunes. He said he cross referenced book. Works for me at half the price.

You can see a picture of my Raptor with the AC Delco that 14mins is speaking about on our Raaptor Club web site listed below. I did not find it crossed referenced with any other filter. I just began checking thread sizes and thread pitch until I found one that matched the Raptor's. It turned out to be for a 97 Mazda MPV V6 engine, I think. Be careful if you try to use another brand of filter for the engine above. I know for a fact that a Puralator will not work. It is not concave enough to clear the large gland nut on the threads of the bike and will not seal. Makes a big mess in a hurry.....

C'mon guys! Isn't a few extra bucks worth the piece of mind of knowing it's done RIGHT? I don't wanna worry about frying my motor just because I cheaped out on a damn oil filter. I know the oem filter is too much money, but hey that's the way it is right now. Give the aftermarket a little time, they'll come out with an appropriate interchange. In the meantime, I ain't takin a chance!

I was not looking for "cheap". I wanted twice the filtering capacity.

K&N makes a after market oil filter for the Raptor (PN KN-147). I buy them at my local shop for $12.95 each.

Is the K&N twice as long as the OEM? That is why I like the AC Delco.

Fram makes one that fits....I believe the # is 6017C.....but not positive....just get the one that fits the Yamaha R1. It's about 5/8-3/4 inches longer then the stocker. I have been using them since last Sept. and works fine. I would'nt recommend running a filter for an automobile....way too freaking long!!! Awkward looking and much more likely to encounter damage too.
