Hoping that atleast a couple of you Raptor owners can provide me with your thoughts and expeiences with sand tires and a steering stabilizer for my Raptor.

I'm going to be making several trips to Silver Lake in Michigan this year and want to have a set of sand tires.

Also, I need a steering stabilizer for Raptor as well, this past weekend about killed me with arm pump.

Thanks for the recommendations in advance!

I would get the new PEP stabilizer because it can be rebuilt. My brother has skat traks and likes them.

For the rear I have a pair of Sand Skat IIs (20x11x10). They are a little steep but you really get what you pay for. Front ones are GBC Dune Trackers (21x8x10).

Click here to see what it looks like...

That set up works for us on our Raptors. Hey Bluereptile have you checked out the track yet and how is the dune trip plans for later this month?

RaptorRRC,

The track you guys are building looks awesome!!! I may have to miss the track opening on the 14th but it looks like we're on for Kermit the weekend of either July 20 or July 27th. Can you guys make it?

email me on your plans if you are interested. It would be great if we can hook up again. Looks like RaptorRider2001 is going to Colorado from reading one of the threads here. I hope he can make it to Kermit as well.

email me or call me on your plans...

Im not sure about the tires, but i would go with a Denton steering stabilizer, its got 7 different settings, and it works great, the only problem i see is that it sticks out the front a little.

I have the Graydon Proline steering stabilizer on my Raptor and it works great. It is 7 position adjustable and it is rebuildable. It smooths our the steering nicely. But, it won't do anything for arm pump - only better shocks can help you there. I used to have the PEP stabilizer on my 250R and it wasn't near as effective as the GP unit that I run now.

Also, I have a question (nacsracer40)... I just blew out one of my rear stock Dunlop tires and I am considering getting a set of Maxxis Razrs in 20x10x9 in 6-ply skins. Anyone have any experience with these treads? Any comments? I haven't heard anything bad about them yet... thanks.

I just installed a PEP stabilizer a couple of weeks back.

PROS = Stabilizer feels great on the trail...definate confidence builder

Less upper body fatigue

nice looking on the Raptor

CONS = does not bolt up correctly until bolt holes are opened up.

not possible to get steering stem mount in exact prescribed location because cooling system housing is in way.

three different stiffness steeings are available. Soft has plenty of clearance from oil return line. Medium requires a couple of washers for proper operation. Have'nt tried firm yet, but it will definately NOT just bolt up like it should.

stabilizer bolts along the side of the engine, which makes me think the stabilizer could be set for premature heat failure.

should be testing product in a half hour. I worked all day getting the thing to work correct. Ask yourself, what's your time worth?

IN CONCLUSION = I would definately go with another brand.
