On feb 16, 01 around 4:30 in a snow storm i purchased then pulled home and 87 warrior. First is first, right? Find out what was wrong. Here is a small list of what was wrong with it:
Bent bumper
fallin' apart scielncer
no pull starter
shot bearings all aoround
no battery
fried silinoids
bailling wire all round
2/3 for the bolts were stripped out to amerincan

As i said small list. After many confilicts with the Yamaha shop rebuilding the blottom end of the motor we got it back. that took 3 months. Before that we got ALL NEW bearings, bushings, and collars from NCY. Many taps were bought, nuts and bolts. Got new tires, 22 and 21 inch XC bandits, the 13 year old stock things were in bad shap. Got the cylinder bored, and head adjusted. New shocks all around. Purchased a White Brothers Pro MEG Scilencer. Did i meantion it had a chapion american lawn mower plug in it? Well, it did.

Now we got it together. Re taped the spark plug hole and stuck and new D8EA in it. at the end of june things were looking bad. the starter clutch needed replaced and we have to buy a fly wheel puller. took 2 weeks to find it. 2 weeks ago we put another $300 oder in a the YAMAHA shop. Got it all in last week and started asembly. Stayed up until 2 am putting this thing together. On july 10th we got it running again. Back fireing and all. We tested all the elecrincs and jetted/cleaned/inspeacted the carb. Still ran like crust. Then on July 12th, i took out the Sprak plug. It had no gap. Stuck a new, GAPPED plug in it and she purred like a kitten. then on FRIDAY the 13th, i tightend up every thing and put on the platic. IT ran perfect. With the new 45 tooth rear sproket it had sooooo muc low end power. I do not even need to give it gas to go. Revers works well, but is had to engage.

Was this project worht it?
$425- the warrior
$700- Low end motor work
$1500- in parts and accesorise

I think this project was worth it. If you shopped around you may have been able to buy the same year machine for the same money you paid but you would have had to do little things to it. The difference is you have a new machine there. Tires, suspension, engine(lower end and top end), bearings, etc. The most important thing is you know that machine inside and out. If it has a problem you'll be able to fix it or know what it is and/or help someone else out like here on the forums. Also did I mention the satisfaction of doing this project. That is the best part, right? I've done this with and old Harley, a '76 YZ 125, and a '90 YZ 250. Everytime the satisfaction I get is great! Just so you know, you made the right move. Good work!!!

3rd day in the beak in prosses-

OMG- this thing has sooooo much power. You do not even need to give it gas to go, just let out the clutch and idel your way out. For the past 2 days i was driving around the yard with the rev limiter set almost all the way in. Then on the 3rd day i took it out the the trails. Even with only a little more than a 1/4 throttle being aplide this warrior would go up EVERY hill i put it agianst. I can not undersatnd now why people insult the warrior suspention. We bought sotck 87 (thats all we could get) and it is very plush and does not bottom on the softest setting.

My comparison-

I have a 96 Blaster that is really race ready. It has a ton of power too. Riding the warrior and blaster are like 2 differant worlds. The blaster is a lot more touchy and quick, while the warrior has low torque and sticks to the ground. Any questions about the warrior i could probly answer.
