Kodiak Carb Advice
#1
I just put a Dynojet kit into my stock Kodiak.
What I am about to describe ONLY happens when the machine is up to operating temperature. At that temp the machine has a little bit of a stumble off idle. The sound is kind of like a puh-puh-puh-puh (if my attempt to duplicate sounds through words is of ANY help :-). Once underway the machine pulls good and hard. When the machine is first started up and cold it doesn't have the stumble off idle. I'm still learning carbs so what could be causing this? Mixture screw, needle, jet?

Not familiar with the stock jet in the Kodiak-what did you replace with? If it's too rich, or even "flooding" itself to give the "puh puh puh" sound, might be too rich of a jet???? Just a guess. Try adjusting your needle to lean it down a notch (lift the clip up), maybe that would help??? Again, just guessing there. I swapped jets on my 'Cat a couple times, it used to do that sometimes with the stock 150, which was too rich. But, I don't have an adjustable needle, so I had to keep swapping jets till I found a good one.
Anyway, Best of Luck with that,
Mike

Usually one "puh" is a lean condition. You have four "puhs" that sound s like it could be running rich. Best thing to do is take the quad for a good, long ride than look at the spark plug color. If it is too dark go lower with the main jet, if it is white go larger on the main jet until the plug is a tan brown.

Does this problem happen after you were riding around slowly or riding around kind of fast? If slowly then just open the air screw a half a turn at a time until it clears up. If kind of fast then try raising the clip up one notch on the jet needle which will lean up the mid to upper mid range by making the needle sit lower in the main jet and should solve your problem. Good luck.
