I read somewhere if you overtighten the drain bolt on the front oil resevior it could crack and then a new one is needed. I just hope for you its not that. New resevior is not cheap.

A while ago I noticed my oil leaking out. I noticed that the tube on top of the remote res. wasn't connected that well. I just pushed it down and made the clamp a little tighter. I believe it was because of the person I took it to for valve adjusting.

I hope it is just that the hose clamp that is a little loose, cause i priced on today from a local dealer and it was 180 bucks. I never even took that drain plug out of the res. didnt even see one on it so i dont think that it would be that. How about the gasket on the line that goes in think that could of went bad?

Bittle,
I hope your not just removing the oil from the crankcase or your machine must be new and have not done a complete oil change. I developed a way to change mine without making a complete mess of everything. Chet

yeah i found the plug, usually i let it sit over night and let most of it drain from the res. Anyways i found the problem the part of the res. that hangs down and the line connects with the two allens cracked right at the res. i took it to one of my buddies and he said he might be able to weld it up...I sure hope so i really dont feel like spending the money on a new one.

Bittle
I went out and looked at mine and that sure is a odd place for it to crack. I wonder if it was a defect in the molding or if it was hit some how. I will watch that area when I am wrenching to change my oil. Chet

Brittle, are you out of warranty? That is an odd place to start leaking. It may have been a defect and your dealer should try to get it covered by warranty. Before having it welded, see if warranty will take care of it. Once it's been welded and it still leaks, dealer may not warranty it because it's been tampered with. Keep us posted.
