i bought my banshee off a guy who raced it. he put fmf pipes and silencers, and a jet kit in it. i was told it will do around 77 MPH. i was riding with my friend and we were on an open stretch of road and i pulled away from him. i was in 4th gear and at very low rpm. so i still had 4th to go through, 5th, and 6th. my friend said he was doing about 50. (he was on a big bear so he has a speedo). i was also told by someone else that they bought a banshee that went about 110. i found that very hard to believe. i asked about mods and i was told it had about everything aftermarket that was made for the banshee. i think he needs to give that bong a rest.

remember, as someone mentioned earlier, the speeds listed in the magazines are the speed at the end of a strip about 300 ft. long. Also using larger tires will greatly increase the top speed. It is not the hight difference which may seem small but, the circumfrence. One or two inches in height difference can greatly change the gear ratio.
My buddy has a '98 300ex which is the same as my '95 300ex except I have slightly larger tires. I don't know what the top speeds are but when he is topping out in 5th, I am just shifting into 5th and can easily walk away from him.
All I am saying is that it is highly possible to go considerably faster than what the dirt mags say. However, to some of you I do have to say....Whatever!!

Evidently I have some doubters ... But thats OK !! I know what my wheeler will run . That was with the stock gears. I have it geared different for the woods. AS far as an XT won't run 90mph ??? Come on !! I've got a KLR 650 which weighs alot more than my XT did and it will run 110mph!! And it's a pig compared to my XT motor. I've had several 4-wheeler... Quad 500's , 250R's ,and a BANSHEE. Nothin' runs or has the torque as my XTSHEE does !! SORRY DOUBTERS !!! But with the right gearing my XTSHEE WILL run 90mph!! Evidently some people have not yet rode a FAST 4-wheeler....

Weight has NOTHING to do with top speed, only the time it takes to GET to top speed.. As a matter of fact, neither does utility or sport suspension (at least if we talk about doing this on a smooth surface and on level ground). Have you ever heard of aerodynamics? It's the air you are trying to push out of the way that eats the most hp. Plus, there are things called frictional losses caused by moving parts, etc. Don't believe me? Ask your physics or science teacher.
