I need to check/adjust my valves soon and I would like to know if there are any tricks to make the job easier. I assume you must remove the tank and fenders to do this right? Are the allen bolts that hold the covers on metric or standard sizes?

No real suprises, it is pretty straight forward as the book states. The allen head bolts are 5mm. I would suggest you spray the bolts with PB Blast (penatrating lube to loosen bolts) and let them set awhile before tackeling it. You do need to remove the plastic first. You can do a search on here to find the specs, I posted them about two weeks ago. There is some good info on them.

you really don't need to take off the tank and fenders although it might make it easier, it's ultimatly more work.
