I just bought a kill switch for my Yamaha Tri-Z but it only has one cable on it. The OEM switch has 2 cables and I am wondering how can I connect this switch with just one cable. Can it be used or is this only for motocross bikes? Is anyone knows how can I connect this? Please let me know!!

I am guessing the two wires on the stock one are positive and ground. On the new one, the wire is positive and the base of the switch grounds to the frame. If this is the case, connect the positive wires, ground the stock ground wire that would normally plug into the stock kill switch, and bolt on the new switch. This should work.

Is it a push-button like a dirtbike, or a tether switch? If it is a push-button, try the idea above. If it is a tether, there should be instructions with it.

Hope I helped!

It is a pushbutton but what I am not sure if that the handlebar is grounded to the frame. Or at least that it has a good or clean ground connection to the frame. Do you know a of a kill switch with connection for 2 wires?

I don't know of any two-wire push button kill switches. If the bars don't have a good ground to the frame, you can get a piece of wire, bolt one end to the bar clamp and the other to a place on the frame. Just make sure the wire is long enough that it won't interfere with steering. It isn't the most attractive way of doing it, but it works great.

What about the Universal Tether Kill Switch (the ones that have are tied to the rider). Do you know if they are 1 or 2 wires? You can take a look at one of these at http://www.prtc.net/~racerx7/images/...ler_switch.jpg

I don't know about that one, but the ones made by Pro Design have 2 wires. I don't have either, but my friend has one and he says that it was very easy to hook up.

if it is a pro design like the one i have one wire goes to ground while the other parallels the coil wire.. i think that is the way all kill switches work but aint positive. if it only has one wire i would assume that it grounds out through the switch and how it is connected to the handlebars. i used a connector called a scotchlok connector. it slips over an existing wire so that you dont have to cut it. then you insert the wire from the kill switch and crimp down the metal knife of the connector to make contact. works well.

I put my universal switch in place of the Key on My blaster and the run switch on my warrior.
