I ride with a group of 4 others who have kodiaks and 2 of the older ones (99) squeak like crazy but i dont think it is comming from the shocks it is something in the front/ steering we were thinking of drilling and putting grease zerks in the ball joints and other places wher it squeaks but have not done it yet

Mine had a squeak there also.On mine it was the shock. When you take the bolt out where it attaches to the control arm there is a bushing that slides into the shock. This was DEFINITELY where mine was squeaking.I put some lithium grease on it and it has stopped for now.Now the other side is doing it.

My 2001 squeeked as well, in the shock area. I put some grease on it and it has stopped. This should do the trick for you.

Most of the time the squeak is from the shock. Locate the top shock nut and loosen it by a quarter of a turn. This should eliminate the squeak.

FKNA, the ride looks great - what type of directional lighting do you have. I am riding a stk 01 Kodiak and one of my only complaints is the lighting. Any info would be great.

alakodiak......thanks! As far as the directional lighting I picked up some 2" round lights at Wal-mart for $30. They work great too. They haven't gone out on me just because I sink the quad. Unfortunately with the stock headlights, I'm forever blowing the bulbs since they aren't sealed beams. I'm going to try to find a sealed beam car light to replace the stock headlights. Anyway, back to the directional lighting. You'll need some mounting brackets for it. I went to a hardware store to the lighting/electrical section. Don't know what it's called, but if you look in that section you'll see something that looks just perfect for handle bars and is just the right height so that the light will be over the brake fluid fill box.
