I was clocked at 48mph by a polairs xplorer. I am not sure how correct it is but i seems right. I have beetin many atvs though: Honda 250 recon, Honda 1985 fourtax 250,and and Arctic cat 300 4x4.

If you already have a Beartracker, sell it and get something decent.
Don't even consider buying one of these POS. They shift badly, like hard, handle terriblly, and have lousy suspension. They are too small for any adult, and not a good choice for anyone under any circumstance. Anyone happy with one has obviously never ridden a good quad. The fact that they are underpowered is a good thing, as they would be a death trap if they had any real power. There are good quads in this price/size range, this isn't one of them. The Polaris TrailBoss and Trailblazer are far superior to the Beartracker, with good suspension and handling, and decent performance. Honda's recon, 250EX are winners too.
Stay away from the Beartracker, it is the worst quad I have ever ridden.

Yeah whats with the way you ended your review? "it is the worst quad i have ever ridin." There is no way that is true if you have ridin a 325 trailboss those have no power and they are very very noes heavy. My beartracker great fro the things I do, that list includes fast ridin through fields and woods,Wheelies, and mud bogging. All my friends have big racing mechines (DS650,raptor,400ex,300ex,warrior,blasters) and i can keep up with them through ne trail except fields because of obveious reasons. I like my beartracker alot and i plan on keeping it around because i have never had a problem with it.

We owned a 325 Trailboss and loved it. It was my son's first quad.
It was heavy, but had adequate power, great suspension and very good handling. I'm glad you like your Beartracker, but the TrailBoss is a much better machine, especially as an entry-level quad. The Beartracker has the worst shifter I have ever experienced, and bad handling, suspension and power. It might be more suitable for wheelies in the parking lot, however.

As for an entry level machine I would go for the Recon. Chet
