Is it worth trying to get a 12 tooth front or instead just add 2 more to the back sprocket? I've heard stories that the 12 tooths might have problems? Thanks

I was told to add 3 teeth to the rear sprocket rather than using a 12 tooth front sprocket. Has something to do with the way the chain gets crimped on the front sprocket. Something about you lose a little bit of power when you do that.

If you go down the 12 tooth route, buy a quality one such as Renthal. I chewed through my $7 Primary Drive sprocket in about 4 months. It just went out completely yesterday. At this point, I am not sure whether I ruined the chain yet. I was planning to go back to a 13 tooth anyhow due to the reasons listed by IceMan11. This just made it happen sooner.

I left mine gearing stock so far ,but if I would change I would rather have a bigger sprocket out back than a smaller up front. It seems like there would be less stress on the chain. Chet
