I haven't rode one yet. But two neighbors just bought 2 '99 Warriors and they stopped down the other day & talked to my brother (he rides a '00 400EX, did have a '98 Sport400L). I wasn't home but we are suppose to ride sometime. Hopefully they are nice enough to offer me a ride on their Warriors
As far as the Warrior being as fast as a Sport... I don't know for sure. The only one I ever raced was an older one and it looked like it had seen better days but it wasn't close to my Scrambler, & even though my Scrambler has some mods it is only about fast as a Sport. The Warrior may have the same top speed, but I don't think accelerate near as hard.

I am on my 2nd Warrior, a '99. My first was an '87 and the only reason why I sold it was because of money. These are the best bikes ever made. Where else can you get this much performace, stylish looks and so many add-ons? Pound for pound and dollar for dollar, this is the KING of quads.

I love my warrior. My 87 Warrior tops out at 66+. Only mods are Uni air filter and a 14 (13 stock)tooth front sprocket. This machine is great but I wouldn't mind getting a new machine, but I will keep the Warrior for my older brothers to ride.

You know the only thing about the new 99 Warrior is that there is NO backup starter. There is only electric start. Did they do this because of a weight issue ?? Seems kind of funny that big Blue wouldn't back up the starter with a pull. My last 87 Warrior had them both.

I had a 95 warrior sold it in 97.I just recently bought a 95 mojave that I like very much but in my opinion the warrior is still the best all around 4 stroke sport quad you can buy.

Yamaha adverises the Warrior has the best selling sport quad in America, that ought to say something. I'd own one, except its too small for me, it hurts my back.

The Warrior is the best all around trail machine around, My friend had one that I used to ride all the time and besides being a little small for me (6ft 2 350lbs) It was great. Very reliable. With a few mods it will run over 65mph. And a brezze to work on...
