Is the grizzly right for me?

Ridgerunner, either quad would definatly suit your needs just fine however theres two bikes that seem to fit you also it sounds to me like you like speed and a work horse motor with 4x4 have you considered a scrambler 500 this bike will pull just as good as a grizz but beat both sportsman and grizz in a race any day ,if you want to keep the utility look then the best for speed and work would be the explorer 400,I own a xplorer 250 and so far nothing other than the 400 can keep up on the straight aways(remember I'm talking utility here obviosly banshees and 400exs are racers ,for those of you that are waiting to bash this entry)just some of my input on the matter,I'm by far not a polaris suporter here thats why I just bought an arctic cat last monday because I'm tired of problems when I'm out in the middle of nowhere in the middle of a hunt.many friends of mine own arctic cats and buy far these things have got to be the most capable and dependable quads built ,any way whatever you buy it will more than likly make you smile and thats what counts man.later

YOOOO Scott your talking two different machines the 500 has much more horses,I was in a couple of atv pulls until everyone started to come out with autos. They would sometimes make polaris run in it's own class, because they would out pull everything else. There was a dealer in salt lake just happen to be grizz dealer that was a smart a##,not saying some polaris or what aren't the same, but for sake of story let me by this time.Anmy way radio station sat up deal with him and polaris dealer. They hooked up back to back polaris pulled him. They done it again, same thing. He claimed polaris got jump on him,so this time grizz took off first, polaris stoped him and then pulled him again. The all wheel drive can't be beat,I don't know why all of them don't have it.The grizz would really be a machine to beat with it.Have seen to many Jeeps here in mtns with and without lockers, really see the difference.Have seen same thing your talking about, with one wheel of ground your in 2 wheel drive.People who have 4x4 trucks think they have something they just have 2 wheel drive on each side.

A Grizzly is a fine choice period!
Polaris more H.P. hahaha Dynojet.com disproves that(all readings SAE net, at rear
tires) better suspension, depends on what you
like, when testing I can recall the Sportsman
turning into a 4-way pogo stick, without any
great effort on my part. If mesured honestly
the Ground Clearence difference is less than
Important. Do my remarks solicite a retort?
Most Likely! Do I Care? Go figure.
What do I have to fear from some Person who
thinks Dynamometers have nothing to do
with power or that the same manufacture of
said products makes one for SAE net and
one for SAE bulk readings, when all it takes
is one phone call to verify the process and
System used.
My advice is the Old Sound and True, A Friend or two, a stopwatch, a tape measure,
and a Cooperative Dealer are the best ways to
go, make your choice based on what you deem
important your feelings and findings and if others don't dig it, tell them to go write it
on the Ice.
Good Luck, Great Day

YSK if your reply was to me,no malice intended was only trying to join disscussion, had only stated what I knew personaly. The grizz has more horses than the 400,that was all I was saying the 500 and grizz are more comparable.Yes do agree that dealer is probley most important part of decission. If you don,t think ground clearance is important, where do you ride the perking lot?I trhink and allways have grizz is one hell of machine,if only had full 4 wheel instead of limited slip.Sorry if anyone else took me wrong.

Narrowed it down to 2,
Out of the Grizzly/Sportsman, which one is cheaper & easier to work on? Dealer support isn't an issue because my Local Dealer sells both. I am not sure I can justify the extra $$$ for the Sportsman, It has less CC's!! I like the looks of the Sportsman better, But the flat fender/CJ look of the Grizzly is growing on me. I really want a ATV thats Fun & fast to trail ride. Ground clearence isn't a big issue. I like the adjustable suspension of the Grizzly does the Polaris have that too?

What I said "the Differences in ground clearence are nominal if mesured honestly"
That means between the Grizz and 500 Sportsman, IE the Front, Frame at Centerline
and the Rear Case on the Grizz and the Rear Swingarms on the Sportsman.
No malice was intended and the remarks were not
Directed toward you in anyway.
However your "Parking Lot" remarks were
almost insulting.

Have you looked at the Magnum 500? It is cheaper than the Sportsman and requires less maintenance. That is, if you have a problem with IRS! Personally, I think it's a good idea, but if you would rather have a solid axle, the Magnum 500 is for you.
