Is the grizzly right for me?

I am looking for the Ultimate ATV and the wildest ride for a big rider (350 lbs) I am looking for a fast fun machine that can work hard when I need it too, I would use it to cut fire wood or pull my small boat from one spot to another. I also want enough power to powerslide the back tires around corners, can the Grizzly do this? Can this Automatic pull the front tires off the ground from time to time. What is the Grizzly's maintence schedule like, Has anyone had any problems with them? Do they really have as much power as people claim?

The Grizzly is the ultimate work horse. I've climbed short by steep hills will mine. Putting all of my 250 pounds over the handle bars and still the front wheels will rise off the ground. Here in Arizona (where its dry) I can smother others in dust from letting the rear end break loose. I also love the sound of the Grizzly, sounds nice and powerful, not whimpy like Polaris. I have a 5 gallon gas tank mounted to the back of mine and also a large trunk mounted on the rear rack. There's a bump at our local OHV park, and the Grizzly will catch the most air of any quad. Hell I clear it by four feet, I'm told. I know its long since the hang time seems like its forever. When I bought the Grizzly I was looking for the same things as you. Its a super tough machine, with really low maintence. The only negative is that its a little top heavy, but once you learn to compensate for that, you'll be all set.

I pulled a 1999 toyota tacoma out of the bogs with my 99 grizzly its the most awsome machine ive ever ridden and it loves the mud and trail riding

I agree with all the responces so far. Best quad I've ever owned. When I trade it in it will be another Grizzly for me. 1300 miles on it and all I've done is the preventative maintenance. It works its butt off on the farm all week then heads for the trail.

AZROB,The Grizz is catching the most air at your OHV club?Jumping 4ft?WOW.You must only have Semi trucks at your OHV area to jump your Grizz against.There are certainly far better jumpers than the Grizz.Not putting the mighty Grizz down,BUT it sure was not made for jumping 4ft and sucking up air time.The Grizz will suit RidgeRunners needs fine,BUT,so will the Polaris Sportsman and Magnum, with MORE features like power to ALL four wheels when the AWD is activated,Liquid cooled,better suspension,higher ground clearance,more shock travel,5.25 gal fuel tank,32hp compared to only 30hp on the Grizz,And a plusher ride.A great work horse as well.I'd mention the Honda 4x4s to,but Azrob mentioned powersliding the rear end around,and Honda's stay in 4x4 all the time,so thats not possible.Dollar for dollar,you make the choice.Whatever you choose,make sure you absolutly have a reptuable dealer.GOOD LUCK ON YOUR CHOICE-----BILL

Actually it was two moto-crossers watching me jump that hill, they said that I was clearing it by 4 feet. Most of the quads that I see there are Honda and Suzuki 250 sport quads. I looked at Polaris, their nice machines. Unfortunately our Polaris dealer sucks. As I wrote to Polaris, your products are only as good as your dealers. I'd bought a motocycle from our Yamaha dealer the year before and knew that I could trust him.

AS BILL SAYS THE polaris WILL OUT RIDE OUT PULL OUT DO A grizz2 ANY DAY.Back them up back to back an polaris will pull grizz allover,anytime.But also belive you have made wise decision in going with the dealer.Best machine in the world is no good without dealer support.Dealers are just people to,but we dont have to support the bad ones.Good luck and have fun!!!!!!

We pitted a Grizzly against a 425 Magnum Polaris. We hooked them up and they couldn't move each other at all. I doubt it would be any different with any of the 500 Polaris Quads. The Grizzly pulls pretty well on level ground where all 4 wheels can get traction. I've seen them get hung up in terrain that has one of the front wheels off the ground and the 425 will crawl through the same situation without a hitch. For what it is worth I would go with the 400 Explorer. It is the fastest utility quad out there without question. It does use a 2-Stroke engine though. My second choice would be the 500 Magnum. Considering you have a poor Polaris dealer you would probably be smart to go with the Grizzly. The ones I ride with have been extremely tough. One guy rolled his down a steep hill on the second ride and it looked totaled. We popped his plastic back into position and he road it home with his broken shoulder. We had to straigten one of the wheels on the Grizz and he has been riding it hard since. Zero problems.
