I have put a pair of Scott grips on my quad that have no flange and I don't know if I like them or not. I like that there is no flange in the way of the throttle but I don't like that there is no protection from the throttle housing.

I had to get used to my grips with no flange too. Once I did they are great. Like you said no flange to get in the way of the throttle. I use Pro Grip Gel Filled and they cut down on vibration also.

i like with flange and even if they do get in the way of the throttle you can just trim the bottom a little bit

I started with no-flangers, but changed to flanged grips for the protection on both sides. I hack the bottom of the right side up to clear the thottle.

I prefer flange grips and a twist throttle. Ourey's are my favorite. I've used those Pro-Grip Gells too and really hated them. I need something that's sticky and has big waffles, otherwise my hands tend to cramp up.

2001atv,
Grip makers don't decide to make some grips with flanges and some without. Grips with the flanges are recommended for twist throttles, grips w/o flanges are for thumb throttles. I don't see any reason you can't use either one, but these are just the recommendations.
