Grizz660 trouble

Everyone has experienced this ugly noise.....??? We should ask Yamaha what they want to do with it.It is a BAD DESIGN.I am asking my dealer this weekend......actually I have complained about a differential noise already and they had no clue/they called a Yamaha tech. hotline!!/.Lets get involved, if they ask for 7 thousands dollars for this machine , they should deliver a perfect quad,or they should fix it under warranty.

When I had mine up in the air today putting the new tires on I tried to get it to make the sound. Without wheels and tires on the rear it doesn't make the noise. With the wheels and tires it does. So it's the inertia of wheel and tire doing it. With the bike jacked up and not running you can have it in drive, low or reverse and jerk the tire back and forth and it make exactly that sound. It sounds like it's coming from mid bike so I also think it's the tranny, and although irritating, it is probably a normal sound...Arlan

I am having same problem with my 2 week old Grizzly.I returned it to the dealer to have this repaired under warranty. The service manager informed me that yamaha is aware of the problem and is working on a fix for it but none is available at this time. The problem is coming from the rotor which is attached to the drive shaft. The service manager even went so far as to drive 2 new machines and both had the same clunking noise.
I love the machine and the power it delivers, but I am extremly disappointed and angry with Yamaha. You spend over $7000.00 for a machine and I don't think it is unresonable ask that the manufacturer have these defects corrected before they sell them to us.As soon as the service manager gave me this info.I purchased the extended warranty (something I never do).It made me think what else on this machine is not right.Perhaps I am over reacting but I just got rid of a 2000 Honda 450 ES because of continual electric shift problems and now this.Mad as hell!!!

I am not happy with it either.Since the noise involves my braking system I feel very u n s a f e. I am forced to stop using it,I'll bring it to the dealer and get it fixed, so I can use it again. If not, I will require my money back.
I am gonna start searching for a good lawyer specilizing in consumer protection, today.
There's a potential for a class action lawsuit......??!!
/I hope it won't be necessary!/

For God sake colt slow down you bought a first year of production machine. Yamaha realizes that there is a problem and will make good on a fix. I also have the same problem and have been over the machine from top to bottom. there is nothing lose or broken. I have purposely ran the living snot out of the thing trying to see if there is a week link and nothing bad has happened. I agree it is anoying as hell and should not be happening but i am connfident that Yamaha is on the case and will correct the problem. The first week I owned my quad the front differential came unglued and Yamaha fixed it with no problem. Ride the quad and relax. It really pisses me off when some one imeidiatley starts crying to a lawyer without going to the limits with the manufacturer first.

Its just driveline lash that is being taken up when you apply the rear brake. Its a combination of the engine braking, and the rear brake working against one another. Let off the brake just a little or else lock it up completely. Either way it will stop. Back off a little on the rear, and apply more front brake. You'll find that this will solve the problem. Or at least I did anyway.

While I do think some of you are over re-acting, this is a perfect example of why I want to wait a year before trading my Wolverine in on a Grizz. I even said to my Dealer that I wanted to wait until they got rid of any teething problems, and of course he told me there were none.
Oh well, hopefully next year there will have been a few updates.
I still envy you guys though. The Grizz is one very tempting quad.
