I am experiencing a knocking noise when I use a rear brake. It looks like the sound is comin' from the front and feels like loose brake... I checked them /brakes/,all seem to be OK.Same sound when I decelerate.
Anyone had a same trouble??
Joe

Joe...I have the same sound coming from mine, exactly as you have described. It has been there since day one. Anyone else? I was worried at first but decided it was a normal sound...Arlan

I think it is the Ultramatic making the noise. I get the same clackety clack sound on both 2000 Kodiaks but only when stopping fast using the rear brakes. I always figured it was a normal sound like a clutch release or override or something.

I have heard the same noise from my rear brakes also. It only happens when I apply then hard at fast speeds. My solution is I don't use the rear unless I am going slow or going too fast down hill but with engine braking you usually don't need the rear brake when going down hill.

Pretty sure it is the tranny. Normal noise of the sprag working. I have noticed it as well and noticed it ALOT when going down a fairly long hill where you throttle on and off.

Obviously this is a n o r m a l noise. It bothers me , sounds like a loose winch hook hitting the frame/sometimes/.Yama ing's should do a better job.

joe, sounds like everyone with the griz is hearing the same sound.I also get that chatter from mine when braking on downhills.I thought it was my driveshaft and was a little worried. I guess that,s just something the griz does.

I don't know anyone with a 660 that isn't hearing this so I think its normal, though it sounds like everything in hell is falling apart. I never knew if it was the transmission or the rear brake myself. Scared me a lot though early on, but now its just something to bother me I guess.

Has anyone asked their dealer to explain this when they've had their machine in for a service? The dealer mechanic should know what the noise is caused from.
