i've heard the Yoshimura ( sorry if i butchered their name ) delivers great gains. apparently they use the 660 engine in their Bikes and have experience squeezing as much performance out of it as they can. Can anyone else confirm or expand on that?

From what I've experienced on this forum the last 6-7 months I would have to say the top five would be Sparks, CT , Big Gun , HMF?, and Yoshimura. Anyways, I got a Big Gun and the gain was a LOT it really woke the beast up. However, I have seen people posting that the HMF was the best deal for the money. I haven't seen much complaints from any of these pipe users(ha ha -pipe users)except maybe sealing problems and they all seem to be happy with their investment.

I don't have any experience with the pipes mentioned however I can share what I know about. I had an FMF Powercore IV on my Raptor and decided to go with the stock Yamaha GYT-R silencer (mainly for looks). They have both worked good as far as the power gains are concerned. Both pipes supplied noticeable power increases. I must say though that surprisingly to me the Yamaha one is noticeably louder and seems to offer a bit more power. I actually thought the GYT-R would be quieter than the FMF but it sounds like a Huey sitting in the garage. I love the looks of the Aluminum GYT-R silencer and it is friggin wicked sounding.

I would have to agree that everyone else's top choices seem to be Sparks, CT, or Big Gun. I have heard good things about them all I just liked the looks of the GYT-R silencer and it still offers excellent power gains.

Ride on.

Guys,
I should have my HMF pipe for my DS by this week-end. I will let you guys know what I think. I know it's not for a Raptor, but I'm guessing the same quality etc. go in to all their pipes. I talked to a guy from rsperformance. They sell the C'dale quads with the HMF on them. He said it's the best bang for the buck out there. I guess we'll see. I hear they tested at 98 db though. Kinda louder than I'd like. But I was told the tone is deeper. Anyone out there happy with their HMF pipe?

See my recent post about my CT Racing setup. I'm very pleased. I'm heading out to Roostfest at Waynoka, OK, so I should have some more results of racing other bikes/setups. Hopefully some other Raptors with different pipes.

my post

Later,
Dan

Andrew, I am very happy with my HMF Raptor pipe. I got the full system with the standard aluminum can. It looks tons better than the old stock unit and much more discreet...except for sound.

I first bought the silent core but did not feel it was much, much better than stock except on low end, so I re-ordered the standard can and it feels much stronger now. I love the sound but some think it is louder than it was... but then again they all think it sounds cool. It has a very low rumble that can be heard upon hard acceleration. I do not think you will be dissapointed with HMF.

Plus, everyone who has tried it says it feels much stronger now.

Explor,
What's the difference on the cans? Is there more than one for a DS do you know? I better find out what I ordered. They didn't ask what I was after, they acted as if it was my only choice. Maybe there is only one choice for a DS?

Andrew, the standard full system comes with a flow-through can. 2 inch diameter core straight through. I wanted to go half-way(noise) so I ordered the "silent core". Basically all it was is 5 half circles welded at 1 1/2 inch intervals inside the can. It restricts airflow and noise. Power was only good without the airbox lid so they graciously sent me the normal flow-through core which I installed. Power went way up and jetting was better.

If you did not ask for the quiet core they must not have sent it to you. Plus, it costs 15$ more... I bet the DS has only the one pipe set-up. Let me know how you like it...

It's funny, about this time last year we were on the Polaris forum talking up our Scramblers! Times change. hehe...
