Get the 2002! A no brainer if they really did change the gear ratios in the tranny and maybe even strengthened them. I would do it over again in a second. As soon as you let a Raptor dust you good on your new 400, you will be wishing you had of gotten the Raptor. Do it right the first time.

 

I agree with you RaptorRider2001. I would definatly wait for the 2002 model just because of the gear ratio changes, if anything.

Also, where did you purchase your hour/tach meter from? I would like to buy one.

Does the Raptor handle as bad as I hear? Would you do a 01' Raptor again? I can get a new 01' for under 6K. The 02' will cost me over $6700.

 

My 01 Raptor handles just fine. It does everything better than my former sport ride the 99 Honda 300EX. I am really proud to have a Raptor sitting in my garage right now. Have 54.50 fun filled hours on mine. Chet

 

Freakystone; I'm not here to sell you on the Raptor, because you should be able to make a honest decision on what you want. I hope that you get the 400ex, because I'll know that you will be tasting dirt from all Raptor owners. I speaking from experience, because all my friends with 400ex's eat my Raptor's dropping all day & everyday we ride. And also, you have an invitation for racing your Durango, well my Raptor accepts the challenge...so Just Bring It!!!!!!!

I saw the other day that 2001 Raptors at one dealer were being sold for 5899. But if I was you I would wait and get a 2002 Raptor I hear that they are better than the 2001 Raptors. But don't get mad 2001 owners just think people that buy dirt bikes deal with this crap every year.
