What's up with those stamped tin guards on the front wheels that go between the hub and wheel? Do the serve any purpose or are they like my brother in law - useless?

Of course there not useless. There good to give to schools so children can draw circles correctly. I am keeping mine on because a rock could get thrown up and with all the sticks on are trails I think it could keep some of them out of the brake area. Take it off it you don't like it. Chet

they are supposed to make your rim stronger, but my stock front rims are in the corner of my garage looking more square than round so I guess it didnt work

Make your rim stronger??? How do you figure that? They don't do squat to strengthen anything! Purely to keep debris out of the brake area. I take them off all my Yamaha sport machines. Useless added weight and no benefits that I have ever seen.

They are SUPPOSED to keep your brake rotor safe from "outside-the-wheel" dangers. (Flying rocks, sticks, etc etc) I took mine off, and have never had any regrets. The only thing is, it seems to be that the rotors get dirtier, and harder to stop. Good thing you use the rear brake in corners!

How do you like them?? Everyone says they're hard to dial in, but once you do, they're spot-on.

they are awesome. Actually, I am thinking of selling my lonestar +3" for something else. If you know anyone that is looking let me know.

I wouldn't run anything but elka's after getting these.

Chasman...regarding your "hope"...did you EVEN need to question whether or not I was fooling anyone? Just a little sarcasm on my part, trust me.
